Education

One big issue dealing with education currently is the No Child Left Behind act. This shows how well schools are doing by how well the students do on a test that they take. This then determines how much money the government will give the schools.
The Zebra Party believes that the No Child Left Behind act is unnessisary. The government shouldn't determine how much money to give the school by how well the students do on a test. Some students are excellent students, but they don't do well on tests so this wouldn't show that the school is doing a good job at teaching their students.
The Zebra Party believes that there should be an different method of determining how much money a school gets from the government.

  1. I disagree. I don't believe the No Child Left Behind act is necessarily wrong... I think that determining how much money schools get from the state based on state testing is a good idea, otherwise how will the government create a basis on how much to give them? It is unrealistic to believe that someone from the government can go to every school and determine in one visit how it runs. I think basing it on how students score on the testing is smart. Students need to learn to take the testing serious, and normally that's the case. So it gives an understanding of how well the material is taught at each school. Now I also agree that their is some problems though, and that their could be modifications to the act. But nothing is currently in place that is causing a national issue.

  2. What would be your different methods? I don't really support No Child Left Behind, but for now until we find a better solution I am totally on board to keep it. Yes, not every does well on tests, but is an okay way to get a general idea of how a school is doing, and also the kids who do poorly on test are in every school across America, so it would even out.
